Client Partners with Power Company to Develop Cellulosic Ethanol Plant

Abengoa Bioenergy, an Antares client, has partnered with Mid-Kansas Electric Co. LLC to develop a cellulosic ethanol and power plant in Hugoton, Kansas.  The 15 MMgy ethanol and 75 MW power plant will be one of the first commercial-scale biorefineries in the world.

ANTARES helped Abengoa Bioenergy write a proposal that won a $76 million Department of Energy grant for assisting in the construction of the plant.  Since the inception of this biorefinery development project, ANTARES has provided technical support to Abengoa ranging from assisting with the development of the refinery’s biomass supply plan to engineering assistance associated with storing, handling, and processing the biomass at the refinery.
